Associate Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Clinician Educator

Overview

Dr. Punsoni is Director of Autopsy Services, Director of Ophthalmic Pathology, and a Staff Neuropathologist in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Lifespan Academic Center and is an Associate Professor at Brown University Warren Alpert Medical School. 

Dr. Punsoni is board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, and Neuropathology by the American Board of Pathology. He completed an Internal Medicine Internship at New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, Pathology Residency at New York University Langone Hospital-Long Island, and Neuropathology Fellowship at Rhode Island Hospital-Brown University. He has received several teaching awards for his commitment to education, including the Ronald A. DeLellis Mentoring Award from Brown University. He is an active member of the American Association of Neuropathologists (AANP) where he serves on several committees, including as Chair for the Website Design and Digital Technologies Committee. 

Dr. Punsoni has lectured nationally and internationally on a variety of topics related to brain tumors, dementia, ophthalmic pathology and autopsy-related cases. He has been involved in multiple grant-supported research projects, and is dedicated to investigating the pathophysiology of brain tumors and neurodegenerative disease-related biomarkers.
